The price of asphalt per tonne is one of the key questions when planning road works. However, the final budget depends on more than the mix price: it is affected by asphalt-concrete type, required tonnage, delivery, base preparation and paving method.

Why asphalt prices per tonne differ

Asphalt-concrete mixes differ in composition, aggregate fraction, purpose and operating conditions. Material for a road base layer and a mix for the wearing course serve different purposes, so comparing them by price alone is not correct.
